Hi ODR

I have the tank filled to 75 gal + or -
Started 9:45 am at 65F
10:45 am at 76F was not stirring it up yet
11:45 am at 78F
12:45 pm at 84F
13:45 pm at 89F high wind and rain
14:45 pm at 94F
15:45 pm at 100F
17:00 pm at 104F
end of run, approximately 8 2x4x4' used for fuel

All in all I was very pleased in the test for it showed where I need to insulate more on the burn tube and may be a skirt around the bottom of the pot to hold a little more heat and also a day with out 15 MPH WIND.

You're little cotton ball filter is working great!

As I said, I did a Yogurt container version and when I pulled the Solar Cover off it looked pretty dam good!

Not as good as the Tub pump did, but that was 2000 watts and what this is doing...
I'm very pleased!

Very nice run I just had, but inconclusive due to starting bellow air temp..
And I'm in full sun and have solar gain..

I also stop at 90 degrees
Beyond that is not comfortable for me...

20 degree rise beyond air temp in 1 hour is the new goal.
Chofu be (pick your word)..
Ya Baby! On the way!

That sounds like a lot of heat. Good luck with that, WOW 20 degrees

I drained the Tub yesterday to add this:

Which now means I can switch over easily to this:

I did this before when dealing with 350 gallons and it under-performed. Had it incased (a version of that little window heater I built years back).

Now with only 100 gallons to deal with, why not try it again.

Starting below air temp (60F water, 80F day) the temp jumped fast in the first hour in full sun (Solar cover was not on).

Tub's at 72F this morning
Hose is on, Solar cover on
Tub will be in the Sun by 10am
And I'll be gone till at least 2pm

Be very interesting where it's at when I return

Here's my goal to beat!
Actually hitting half on this would be awesome..

This is what the Chofu states:

Heating Schedule
55F to 105F

Gallons Time
100 1 1/2 hours
200 2 1/2 hours
300 3 1/2 hours
400 4 1/2 hours

I did after I ran for 2 hrs.
Your 100ft would be better!

It cooled too quickly with the pump, still higher than input water though.

That reminds me, I have to check GPM on my little pump to compare to yours..
I'm thinking their very close to the same.

Then just a 2 hose splitter

They have cheaper ones, but I had this around and not in current use

Arrived back at 3pm
97F in the tub!

Sun broke through at 10am as thought
Stayed full sun while gone
How do I know?
I was 5 miles away working on the mooring (and helping s few others)

Dug out my other 50ft section of black hose
Re-rigged so to pushes from the bottom now and drains into the filter

I did climb in and lowered the temp to 90F

I will say I can now read output temp easily with it dumping into the filter.
But... The battery just died.. Crap!

Solar heating, filtering, and the dam battery dies...
So goes the life of an experimenter. LOL!

Like what they've done!
Runs on the concept of the Chofu.
Large area of heat, large area of pipe (or transference).

The Chofu is much more efficient, but at it's cost..
I like what they've done.

Doug's system is running better than mine.
I've run numbers comparing the difference of volume of water and it still runs better.
I'm looking deeper into the single pot he uses vs. my piping.
There's something pretty 'solid' about this.

I do believe the efficiency of the rocket stove is the way to go.
Especially now that I've stocked wood of this winter and look at what I used to burn in the pit for fun and see it as fuel for the tub.

Thank you for sharing and please show anything you find.
We can all learn something from what another has done.
