Hey all I remember we had a post similar to this one on the old forum, thought we may benefit from one here as well.

To start it all off I have a huge lot of old PC power supplies which I am willing to let go of for the cost of the postage within Australia, I'd be happy to mail out 2 to each interested person (just so we spread them around), they are all around the 400 watt mark and as I am from Australia they are 240volt and I do NOT have power leads for them. but they do work just need to be modified and can become a great bench top power supply

I would mod them myself but by them time we add my labour parts etc I would want too much for them, better and cheaper you do yourself, let alone the responsibility of modding a 240volt appliance which I do not want lol....

Any how if anyone is interested drop me a line and I'll hook you up :)

They are the power supplies from computers so I assume they have regulated outputs, I have converted one to a bench top supply just using the Videos avail on youtube, I found all I needed to do was hot wire the "power on" wire to Ground, and put a resistor as a load across the 5volt output and ground, I got 12.12volts on the 12volt output @ approx 15amps.

I now also know there is a +12 rail and a -12 rail If you hook them up as -/+ you will get 24volts, Connect the +5 volts to + 12 you will have 7 volts..... -12 volts and +5 you get 17volts and so on.
