Ive got a sjr 3.0 up and running, but as usual ive got some questions,
1. am I right in thinking that it rings on the 12v line.
2.why does my setup work better with a 5822 across base emitter and not a 4001
3.is my mod with the bulbs valid ?....what ive done is set my bulbs up tesla style, hv wire from collector to a ac cap to bulb, bulb to cap and of to the secondary coil, am I right in thinking ive knocked the dc of its perch....any comments much appreciated...phil...[Im open source).
if your set up doesnt ring, simply put a jumper across caps..check amp draw, remove jumpers and recheck.....love and peace...enjoy

I tried both Lynx and Laser's JR's and came up with a blend that works well.

My goal was to get to using my Drill Batteries as source power and no 'ringing'..

I'll look up the circuit.
I'm certain there's a thread here on it.

I can't buy the bulbs they show locally anymore.
I've been using the Cree's and they work as well.

What I really like is you can remove the globe and exposed the SMD.
Just don't look straight at it.. Well, unless you like those dark spots..

Spent more time today with this one and im going to answer some of my own questions, the 5822 may very well give more light but is a big no no with some coils (to leaky) causing serious heating in coil and transistor. may keep one cap on base side of bulb...this is a long way short of donkey proof, it fact im calling this one a three legged donkey.will post on my findings on caps.....slippery

The biggest thing I found was tuning the winds..
I'd really like to see the circuit and understand the ratio happening.

RonO had pointed this out to me.
He was right in my effort.
