Happy new year everyone! I wish you'd share me your ideas about this. I do have a brother-in-law who owns a travellers inn and He needs help in terms of management. He was thinking on balancing everything in terms of reducing energy costs as well as their business water consumption. What do you think? What is your suggestions on how he could save and at the same time sustain more resources he need for his business? Anyone here who could give us related info about the most efficient solutions and sustainable manner to reduce energy expense? Thanks in advance!

Hello,

Any effort in lowering electrical consumption will require an investment of energy saving hardware that will provide a return on investment over time.

Most start with converting all lighting to LED bulbs.

Secondly, most find ways of regulating how they regulate heating water for bathing. A very efficient method is tankless water heaters. This would require serious planning in a hotel.

Thirdly... Installing a grid tied solar system.

As there are a lot of sheets and towels that need washing in a hotel. They can start with using only cold water. Outsourcing to modern commercial laundry facilities that use energy efficient equipment could be a savings over the long term, rather then updating their current equipment.

That is just what comes to mind for a start !

A timer on the bathroom light switch that goes to a max of say 25 minutes , plenty of time for somebody to do their business but would cut into long mindless hot showers ..
Not to where it can be reached from inside the shower .
I've stayed in a couple places that did that , it makes you mindful of how long your in there .
If you have plenty of Sun solar hot water collectors on the roof for water is always a option to help .
The sink motion sensors are aggravating to use but sure save on water usage , when a hand ain't moving under them the water shuts off quickly .
CFL's over incandescent and LED's over both as for light .
I don't know if any of that helps ya though .

Oh yea ,
Low flow shower heads do save a lot of water and can be bought cheap and easy to install .
On the Low Flow just don't get the extreme flow restrictor kinds , I've bought a couple that I had to modify ( they would barely bead water on your skin to shower ) you would want repeat customers .
I know I've never stayed 2 nights or twice in a place I couldn't get a descent shower at .
Making sure all sink faucets have an areator with restrictor is also a cheap and easy water saver .
Those are 2 that would fall under routein just maintenance and shouldn't cost hardly anything to do .

Hello, I agree that there other ways of cutting energy costs. I've heard too that it will help increase energy needs with growing sustainability and providing managing solutions. You may try browsing about energy efficiency online, there are a lot that discussed about energy solutions.
