Nice, but I have no idea what the 'pick axe' is that you are referring to.
Will the next video may cover that?

@Dave A PICAXE, in this case an 08M2, is a programmable micro-controller chip (a tiny computer CPU basically).

There are many such beasts, the first were just called "PICs" - and they are still popular, cheap, but they require some steep-curve assembly language programming, so they are more for engineer types.

Then, the arduino came along and it allowed you to do tons of cool stuff, and use a basic-like language. problem with it, is, cost. It is still over $10 per unit.

The PICAXE is not a hard thing to use; its programmed with basic language via USB. The 08M2 is small one, and it's only $4 per chip. So, that makes it sensible for a lot of projects that do not require a LOT of processor power, but, can benefit from SOME, yet need to be low cost as well.
