this is a video I made from junk that I recycled into a wind generator. It will be up and running for use in New Mexico this spring time.this was a fun project and can be pretty easy to make if you have the time.

Cheers

Hi Lefthand-thats preaty cool.I have been thinking about buying a wind generator but now after looking at your vid i have made my mind up to build one-right after i have finished the judge lol.

Swim at 90 degree's to the current and gain speed in two directions while only doing half the work

find a old ceiling fan and go to work, add your neo's and make blades from pvc and then a tail section and your making power for a battery bank. This generator stayed up for months as a test and the pole it was attached was pretty shaky also, but it did fine in high winds that whole time.ill make another one after this one is tied into the bank along with about 200volts in solar.fun and easy to make, just takes a little time thats all.cheers!

I have a tread mill motor and a set of blades in the shop. I haven't found a pole to put it on yet. It's been laying there for 2 or 3 years.

Hi JKS

Home depot has 1 1/2 " conduit 10' for around 20.00 Depending on your bracket you could run 1 1/4 " that would also hole it

Hi 49er
How high in the air do you have your treadmill generator? What gauge of wire do you have it hooked to? I live in Kansas and we get some pretty good wind at times. It might be 25 to 30 mph one day and 5 to 10 the next though.

Hi JKS

There 20' high and I used 12ga extension Cord 35' to hook up. Use a FWBR at the motor and then hook up the cord pure DC and the FWBR acts as a blocking diode and hook straight to the battery.
